Underwriting Manager (Property)

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and agents, providing expert advice on property insurance coverage and risk management.
  • Mentor and support junior underwriters, offering guidance and training to enhance their skills and knowledge.

  • Manage and maintain a portfolio of property insurance policies, ensuring accuracy and timely issuance and renewals.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and agents, providing expert advice on property insurance coverage and risk management.

  • Mentor and support junior underwriters, offering guidance and training to enhance their skills and knowledge.

  • Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes, and conduct market research to identify new business opportunities.

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as claims, sales, and risk management, to ensure seamless service delivery and effective risk mitigation.

  • Evaluate and underwrite property insurance risks, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Analyze claims data and underwriting results to identify trends and areas for improvement, and prepare regular reports on underwriting performance.
  • Make informed decisions on underwriting, set appropriate coverage limits, and determine premium rates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in property insurance underwriting.

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in underwriting software and tools.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • In-depth knowledge of property insurance products, policies, and regulations.
