Tooling/Design Engineer

Our client who is a global MNC plastics manufacturer is looking for a Tooling/ Tool Design Engineer to join their team.

As a Tooling Room Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining various tools used in manufacturing processes. Your expertise will directly impact product quality, efficiency, and overall production success. Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Development:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including design, production, and quality) to create tooling solutions.
    • Design molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other components used in plastic injection molding or other manufacturing processes.
    • Ensure that tool designs meet specifications, safety standards, and production requirements.
  2. Process Improvement:

    • Analyze existing tool designs and manufacturing processes to identify areas for enhancement.
    • Optimize tooling to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
    • Implement changes based on data-driven insights.
  3. Blueprints and Documentation:

    • Create detailed blueprints, schematics, and documentation for all tooling components.
    • Maintain accurate records of tool designs, revisions, and maintenance procedures.
    • Provide clear instructions for manufacturing and maintenance teams.
  4. Technical Support:

    • Troubleshoot tool-related issues during production.
    • Collaborate with machinists, operators, and maintenance personnel to address challenges.
    • Ensure smooth integration of tools into the production process.
  5. Materials and Specifications:

    • Select appropriate materials for tool components (e.g., steel, aluminum, plastics).
    • Consider factors such as durability, wear resistance, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Adhere to industry standards and best practices.
  6. Quality Assurance:

    • Conduct inspections and quality checks on finished tools.
    • Verify dimensions, tolerances, and functionality.
    • Make adjustments as needed to meet quality standards.
  7. Continuous Learning:

    • Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and advanced manufacturing techniques.
    • Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions.
    • Apply new knowledge to improve tooling processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in tool design, preferably in plastic injection molding or similar industries.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Problem-solving mindset and adaptability.
