Senior Purchasing Manager

An established automotive parts manufacturer is seeking a Senior Purchasing Manager to spearhead the development and execution of procurement strategies. This role involves negotiating advantageous deals, managing vendor relationships, and monitoring key metrics to drive cost reduction and enhance operational efficiency. This role reports directly to the Deputy Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities:

• Formulate, direct, and implement procurement strategies
• Monitor and document key performance metrics to minimize costs and enhance efficiency
• Develop negotiation tactics and finalize agreements with favourable terms
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure precise requirements documentation
• Predict price and market trends to identify shifts in buyer-supplier power dynamics
• Conduct cost and scenario analyses, and perform benchmarking
• Evaluate, manage, and mitigate risks
• Identify and collaborate with dependable vendors and suppliers
• Establish delivery quantities and schedules
• Track and anticipate future demand levels

Key Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or related field of study
• Minimum 8 years' or purchasing experience in the automotive manufacturing industry
• Good knowledge of procurement practices, indirect purchases, demand markets, negotiation concepts
• Strong supplier relationship management
• Solid vendor performance management experience
• Expertise in contract management with an understanding of local commercial laws
• In-depth knowledge of strategic procurement processes within a matrix organization, encompassing sourcing, strategic supplier management, contracting, and performance management
• Prior exposure to e-procurement platforms like SAP Ariba and Oracle Fusion Cloud
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, management and collaborative skills
• Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
• Ability to look at situations from several points of view
