Material Development Engineer

This global semiconductor company in Malacca is seeking a Material Development Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Material Research and Development: Investigate and develop new materials and processes to enhance product performance, efficiency, and durability. Stay current with the latest developments in materials science and technology.
• Material Characterization: Utilize advanced analytical techniques to characterize material properties, such as electrical, optical, thermal, and mechanical properties. Analyze data to inform material selection and process improvement.
• Process Optimization: Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to optimize material usage, reduce costs, and improve production efficiency. Implement lean and sustainable manufacturing practices.
• Quality Control: Establish and maintain quality control standards for materials used in semiconductor manufacturing. Perform rigorous testing and validation to ensure materials meet the required specifications.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, design, and production teams, to support the development of new products. Collaborate with external suppliers and partners to source or develop novel materials.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of experiments, test results, and research findings. Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and intellectual property protection.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to materials and manufacturing processes, such as RoHS and REACH.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience in material research and development, preferably in the semiconductor industry.
• Strong knowledge of materials characterization techniques, such as SEM, TEM, XRD, and spectroscopy.
• Proficiency in materials simulation and modeling tools.
• Familiarity with cleanroom and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Self-motivated and driven to stay updated with the latest developments in materials science and technology.
