Industrial Engineering Manager

This rapidly expanding semiconductor MNC in Penang is seeking a Sr Industrial Engineering Manager.


Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise a team of Industrial Engineers and Technicians, offering guidance, training, and assistance to optimize performance and accomplish organizational objectives.
• Develop and execute production layout strategies to enhance resource utilization, minimize waste, and ensure smooth workflow.
• Conduct capacity planning and analysis to determine optimal resource allocation, meeting production targets while maintaining efficiency.
• Perform time-study analysis to identify bottlenecks and devise strategies for process improvement and production efficiency.
• Manage Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects, including budgeting, planning, and execution, to improve manufacturing processes and capabilities.
• Utilize Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) calculations and analysis to evaluate and enhance equipment performance, availability, and quality.
• Spearhead productivity enhancement initiatives by pinpointing areas for improvement and implementing suitable strategies and processes.
• Conduct man-machine calculations and analysis to optimize workstations, labor allocation, and production processes.
• Implement 5S principles to establish an orderly and efficient work environment.
• Coordinate Kaizen events to identify and eliminate process inefficiencies.
• Promote lean manufacturing principles and methodologies to eliminate waste, reduce non-value-added activities, and enhance operational efficiency.
• Utilize takt time analysis and calculations to improve production planning and resource allocation, meeting customer demand effectively.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments (e.g., Engineering, Production, Quality, Planning) to drive performance enhancements, resolve issues, and implement process changes.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, identifying improvement opportunities, and devising action plans.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and emerging practices in industrial engineering, implementing innovative solutions to enhance manufacturing processes and efficiency.
• Ensure activities align with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental policies, 5S policies, and general duty of care.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience and education.
• Master of Science degree preferred.
• Black-belt Lean/Six Sigma Certification.
• Strong leadership skills, capable of effectively leading and motivating cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in industrial engineering tools, techniques, and software, with expertise in Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of successful process improvement initiatives.
• In-depth knowledge of production layout strategies, capacity planning, time-study analysis, and OEE calculations.
• Experience in managing capital expenditure projects, including cost analysis, budgeting, and vendor management.
• Effective communication skills, able to present complex information to stakeholders at various levels.
• Proactive mindset, capable of identifying improvement opportunities and driving organizational change.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel overseas.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in industrial management, preferably in a senior-level role.
• Preferably 10+ years of management experience for new product introduction/project transfer, with a successful track record of managing cross-functional teams.
