HSE Assistant Manager

Job description

World renowned food company looking for a HSE Assistant Manager to join their team. A prominent player in the food industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement timely and effective EHS initiatives, policies, and training programs that proactively tackle current safety (including security) issues, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Take full responsibility for assigned tasks, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of their content and processes. Regularly review progress with the Plant EHS Manager on a weekly and monthly basis, making adjustments as needed.
  • Implement EHS policies, procedures, auditing, training, communications, and educational resources to enhance awareness, understanding, appreciation, and compliance with safe operating practices across the workplace, ensuring adherence to standards and government regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Health & Safety Manager to offer stakeholders, business partners, and others functional guidance and technical expertise on relevant matters.
  • Be responsible for establishing Daily Directives, facilitating Communities of Practice, and managing Work Systems, among other duties.
  • Support plant ERT operations during emergencies, collaborating with the EHS/ERT Commander to manage crowds and secure the site.
  • Assist the Health & Safety Manager in preparing, maintaining, and submitting necessary records and reports for the company and regulatory agencies, including trend analysis.
  • Oversee audits and governance of all equipment, machinery, and safety inspection programs.
  • Develop program owners for machine, equipment, and tool inspections across all shifts.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure safeguards in planning and executing maintenance and new technologies comply with regulations.
  • Regularly review hazard risk levels with the Sr. Manager Plant EHS and H&S Manager, updating relevant information for daily meetings.
  • Coordinate and manage the Health & Safety Committee and other EHS-related committees and processes.

Key requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field; safety coursework or experience in HSE procedures and OSH preferred.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or similar industry.
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and compliance processes, including DOSH requirements.
  • Certified and registered as a Safety & Health Officer with DOSH.
  • Strong knowledge of fire prevention, occupational health, safety, process safety, and emergency response.
  • Available to respond to health and safety alerts outside of business hours.
  • Skilled in conducting risk management audits and occupational investigations.
