Chapter Lead - Back End Engineering

A leading financial institution is currently expanding thier APAC team by looking for Team Lead with strong technical background to work on regional projects

Key Responsibilities :

  • Align Java development practices across the team, leading the integration of innovative approaches that support the bank's engineering objectives.
  • Promote the use of advanced Java technologies and frameworks like Quarkus, steering the evolution of backend practices to address future demands.
  • Manage the implementation of functional standards and best practices, offering technical guidance to team members.
  • Ensure the quality of the code repository where relevant.
  • Serve as a link to the broader domain strategy, including technical standards.
  • Prioritize and allocate resources to address technical debt.
  • Focused on building capabilities, this role does not involve owning applications or delivery responsibilities.
  • Lead projects and a team of members by providing technical leadership

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with a preference for advanced degrees.
  • At least 6 years of professional Java development experience, including a strong background in backend system architecture and API design.
  • Good in Java frameworks
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, managing diverse development teams and driving complex Java projects.
  • Proficiency with Java frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate, along with a solid understanding of Apache Struts.
  • Expertise in JVM internals, garbage collection models, heap dump analysis, and Java performance optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases like Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Cassandra.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipeline deployment, containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for effective integration with backend systems.
  • Version control experience with tools like Git, maintaining high code quality standards through reviews and automated testing.
  • Strong communication and team-building abilities, with the skill to mentor developers, foster technical growth, and align team efforts with organizational goals.
  • Capable of leading in fast-paced, iterative development environments.
